Talking boards may look like Ouija boards and you may not know them by any other name, but talking boards have many names. The Ouija board is a copyrighted name for a Parker Brothers’ game. That is SO limiting! So, please don’t call talking boards, Ouija boards. Just like petroleum jelly is known universally by its trademarked name, Vaseline, the same is true of the talking board, it’s known universally as a Ouija board.

So you don’t call a talking board Ouija, learn the other names a talking board is known by. Versions of the talking board have been around since 500 BC. A talking board is believed to be a way to channel spirits by some and a harmless board game by others. Parker Brothers has owned the trademark for the Ouija board since 1966. There are many designs of talking boards that range from the familiar Parker Brothers’ Ouija board to boards that resemble works of art.

The talking board (also known as the Ouija board) is filled with history, drama, and legend. Before entering into this mysterious world, educate yourself as much as you can about the talking board and please don’t call it Ouija.
